Shaquina is a mother, soldier, entrepreneur, and much more. As the founder, Shaquina started the foundation in October 2019 to unite others in the spirit of friendship and to let others know that she is just like them, but she pulled herself up and became successful. Her goal is to Inspire, Empower, and Uplift by telling her story, hopeful that it will help others overcome whatever they’re allowing to hold them back. She has been through life’s trials. In the end, she always triumphs.
In April 2010, Shaquina’s military career started, first joining the Illinois Army National Guard, serving three years as a food service specialist (92G). After a two-year military hiatus and following the birth of her daughter in 2015, she pursued Business Administration at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA, then joined the Army Reserves as a food service specialist. Later, in 2022 she changed specialties becoming a Motor Transport Operator (88M). As a sergeant (E5) with over 13 years in the United States Armed Forces, she wishes to reach year 20 and beyond. Her commitment is evident: “I can’t see myself without the uniform, and it feels great to be a part of something greater than myself as I call the Army the largest sorority/fraternity in the world!”
In addition to her military pursuits, Shaquina began her entrepreneurial journey in 2017 as owner/operator of TaxTimePRO LLC., whose success has led to serving more than 50 clients across eight states. She continues this business as a more economically accessible option over large companies overcharging impoverished communities for accurate tax preparation services. She states, “Your tax refund should be to catch up or get ahead financially, not to create another worry about paying for proper preparation.” Through this endeavor, she found her passion for numbers and is currently a senior accountant for a local truck repair company in Lynwood, IL.
As a humanitarian and entrepreneur, Shaquina’s primary focus is to become known for the I.Em.U. Foundation as her legacy and use her testimony to leave a mark on the world. It is a small step to a positive approach to issues we all face daily. Shaquina’s contagious, tenacious, and formidable spirit continues to make her a pillar of support for her family and friends. She encourages and empowers others to love themselves and uplift one another.
